Our Present
Present day Camp Swift is a gift to both campers and counselors alike – lives are forever changed by the Camp Swift experience.
Our Campers
Camp Swift campers are predominately Hispanic, Native-American, and African-American children ages 8 through 11 from the greater Phoenix area. The children reach us through homeless shelters, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix and Title 1 school districts. Several districts believe so highly in the benefits and learning experiences provided by Camp Swift that the program has been incorporated into their curriculum.
Our Counselors
Our unique counselor-camper relationship creates a level of student “buy-in” that differs from the classroom. The college-bound high school counselors quickly become role models and mentors for their campers. These counselors also gain a gift from their involvement in Camp Swift – responsibility, self awareness, problem solving skills, increased confidence, humility, a strong connection to others, and a greater appreciation for life.
Although the counselors are Jewish teens, religion is not part of the Camp Swift curriculum – they are doing their part to repair the world through acts of loving kindness.
